Wish You Were Here....

This is Andy. I am entering a photo I took on our honeymoon a few years ago in Mandy's Photo Contest. The sunset was perfect and I pointed and clicked.

I hope I win.

The Nursery

Well with 3 weeks left, we have finished the nursery and we are very pleased with the outcome. This weekend, Andy and I went to Hobby Lobby and got the supplies for us to put her name over her crib...I am so glad things didn't work out last weekend and we did not end up painting her name on the wall...I like this so much better!!
These letters are called chipboard...but really they just look like cardboard. There is a little book of ideas that I bought for 1.99 and we just went from there.

It's hard to see, but I jeweled up "S", "R" and "H" to give them a little 3-D.
And here are some other pics of the finished product....

The rocking chair glider that we purchased from target turned out to be a little more golden than I had wanted, but if you look closely at the bedding, the gold/yellow actually matches. But the chair is crazy comfortable, so I guess that's all that matters.

36 week check up and Pic

Here is my 36 week picture. If I had a quarter for every time someone said to me..."I think your ready" or "Wow, you're about to pop!" I think I could buy every pack of diapers in wal-mart!

Well no real news to report after today's doctor's visit....Still at a "good centimeter"...guess that's better than a bad one?!?! I didn't gain any weight this week, which made me smile and Sarah's heart beat was at a healthy 155 again...which also made me smile.

Andy showed up for the appointment today thinking it was going to be the sonogram appointment (which is next week)...he practically pushed the doctor over to get out of the room once he realized there would be an exam!! I tried to convince him it was a good practice run for the delivery room....he wanted nothing to do with it. After he left my doctor said "So do we think he's gonna make it in the delivery room?" We both got a good laugh out of it...I told her, my mom would be there for back up!
In other news, I haven't really been excited about my diaper bag...I know, it's not really a big deal, but I am a girl that loves a good bag! Well, I no longer have that problem...I have fallen for the diaper bags by Kalencom of New Orleans. Check them out at Kalencom.com And today, after Andy having to hear be talk about this bag for a couple of weeks, he "ok'd" the purchase. Here's a pic of my new bag...I seriously could have bought 3 or 4 more...they are that dang cute!!

Dad's Nest too!!

So we (well I guess just me) have been trying to find something else to do with Sarah's room...especially the walls. I, apparently, am the only one who is a fan of dragonflies and thus we cannot find ANYTHING with dragonflies on it...well not that we like anyway.
Andy suggested we take the dragonfly from one of my shower invitations and put it on the overhead and make our own stencil for the wall....and I LOVE IT!!

Andy getting the stencil ready...He really took the lead on this project and just went after it!
Steady hand....

All in all there are 5 new dragonflies on Sarah's walls. We had intentions of painting her name above her bed as well, but the overhead projector bulb went out, so I have to get another one at school and I guess we will finish up next weekend with her name.

Thanks Daddy!! You did a great job!!!

Help Wanted!

Since we are getting so close to meeting our little girl, I figure it's time to start packing my bag...of course everyone in the universe has felt the need to tell me how they delivered early and there atrocious "labor day" stories. So in an attempt to be the prepared person that I am, I figure it's time to start packing.

So to all of my blogging mommas I need your help...what do I put in my bag???? I have a few PJ sets that mom got me for Christmas with a new pair of slippers that I have saved for this day, but what else??? What did you wish you had that you forgot at home???

So fill me in and help me fill my bag up! Oh and do I pack a bag for the baby?!?!?

I do realize I could go online for all of this info, but what fun would that be?!!? Besides...I need advice from real life!

35 Week Check Up

Well, today we started the not so fun doctor's appointments...ya know an actual examine, instead of me and the doctor just chatting it up. My blood pressure was good, gained another 3 pounds and found out that my cervix is starting to thin and I am dilated to almost a centimeter!
Oh wow! Here we go!!
My doctor assured me not to worry that my body is just getting prepared...it doesn't mean that I will go into labor early. So that is good news. I now go to the doctor every week and in two weeks we will have a sonogram to check Sarah's size again.
As for day to day....Sarah is moving...A LOT!! Especially at night when I lay down to sleep. Andy and I can see her moving in my belly...which is totally crazy!! I am needing more rest each day and I am feeling a little more heartburn each day ( so maybe I will be able to use all of those bows I have for her!). Oh and I have totally lost my ankles at this point!
And for everyone else in our house hold:
We took Fritz to the vet on Tuesday to see about having him medicated for his...let's call it extra energy. The vet gave us a prescription to give him twice a day. We are going to start this on Saturday, so we can see how he reacts to his new "vitamin". The vet also recommended we put out some of Sarah's items in the living room to let him get to them. We put the bouncer seat out and the swing...I even turned on the music makers and he had nothing to do with either. Which we were surprised to see because they have little stuffed toys on them that we just knew he would go after. The vet also said, that most dogs will be indifferent to the infants because she won't be active and by the time she does get active and starts to eat solids, Fritz is likely to make a deal with her...she gives him a cherrio and he will let her stay!
As for Andy ....Wellllllll, he is getting really excited and a little sappy too I might add. If you know Andy, you know that he is not one to shy away from crying at an ESPN story of inspiration, or a tear -jerker of a movie. Well the other day, we were watching TV and I look over and he's got tears welling up in his eyes over the Jiff Peanut Butter commercial!!!! You know the one where the Dad is building the tree house for the little girl and she brings him a peanut butter sandwich....yeah, that one!!!! HA!! I just started to crack up!!!! Yep, he's ready!

Showered at School

Wednesday, February 10th, my co-workers at school held a baby shower for our little Sarah. It was so nice! I have such a wonder faculty that I work with daily!! Here are a few of the pics...
My lovely hostesses: Becky Potter (my former geometry teacher!), Cheryl Page, and Missy Carroll....Thank you ladies!!!

So many great gifts, lots a soft blankets...this one a hand made quilt, a couple of crocheted blankets, lots of adorable outfits, gift cards, picture frames and many more wonderful additions to Sarah's array of goodies! I think she needs a bigger room already!!!

This weekend, I am taking advantage of the snow day/mardi gras holiday and I am washing blankets, onesies, crib sheets etc. working on getting her room all together and organized. Nesting I guess you would call it....it's about all I can do now to keep from going crazy waiting on her to get here!!!

Snow Day 2010

As fast as it was here, it was gone...my kind of snow. It started to snow around 8am this morning and by lunch it was all gone!!

What made this "Snow Day" extra great is that we are off of school Monday and Tuesday of next week for the Mardi Gras holiday...so throw in today, Friday and we've got ourselves a nice little break!

You gotta love living in the south when a weather event that looks like this is called "Blizzard On the Bayou" by your local weathermen!! They had me cracking up all morning!!

At this time, I would like to thank Al Gore for making everyone feel the need to squeeze themselves into small little asian made hybrids, recycle and hug trees regularly so that we in south LA could have snow THREE times in the last TWO years...even if it is only a half of an inch!!

a little video...

33 week check up

Today's appointment went well. Sarah's heartbeat was a good 140 to 143. My blood pressure was at 127 over 88 and best of all....I only gained 2 pounds since the last appointment 2 weeks ago!! I happened to mention this to my doctor and she just laughed and said "we're still having a big baby, honey!"

Today when she measured my tummy, she informed me that I was measuring close to 37 cm....I am only 33 weeks!!! At this point in pregnancy, your measurement should match the number of weeks that you are pregnant. Soooooo we are a little bit bigger than normal, but all is well.

Since I thought I did so well with my weight gain the last two weeks.... I treated myself to a slice of King Cake and a glass of milk when I got home!! It was YUMMY!!

At this point, I am starting to grow more tired each day and I am back to my going to bed early that happened early on in this process. Everything is becoming a chore, back aches are more frequent and sleep is becoming a little more uncomfortable. I have asked Andy to paint my toes for me, since they are not in reach anymore, but he has insisted he wouldn't mind at all if I went to have a pedicure!! Funny he used to think that was nonsense!?!?!

Next appointment is in two weeks and then I will go once a week after that. At 37 weeks, we will have another ultrasound and do a size check.

Showered with Love

Sunday I was blessed to have a wonderful baby shower here in town with friends and family. Andy and I are truly amazed at all the love Sarah has received so far and she's not even here yet!!
The shower was held at Forrest Grove Plantation....where we had our wedding reception- a great venue!!
My lovely hostesses: L-> R Wendy, Jamie, Tracey, Me, Ms. Patty, Michelle and MissyCan't thank you ladies enough for the wonderful shower....it was perfect!!

Note to self....don't stand next to Wendy when your pregnant! Wow! That belly is really coming in!! Oh and here's your latest belly pic....I am 33 weeks in this one.Yummy cake...man I love a good cake!! Wedding cake with butter cream filling and icing with shaved white chocolate on top!!! Tracey manning the sign in station...no, the toilet paper isn't back up for the pregnant lady- it was for a game...guests had to guess how many squares around my stomach was- Ok guess??? 12 squares!! 4 people actually made that guess, but Aunt Cookie won the tie breaker.

The other game played was with safety pins- all guests received a safety pin when they entered, if another guest caught you saying the word "BABY" then they were allowed to steal your safety pins...the guest at the end of the shower with the most pins won! Ashlyn won this game.

I managed to make through the whole shower without crying...so that's a plus.

Andy and I are so thankful to have so many great people in our lives and can't wait for Sarah to meet all of them!! Thanks again to everyone who attended and to Jamie, Ms. Patty, Michelle, Tracey, Missy and Wendy for all of your hard work in putting on this shower- Y'all Rock!!
