DSHS Lady Jacket Playoff Basketball - Semi Final Game

DSHS Lady Jackets had an amazing season and worked their way through playoff brackets to make it back to the state tournament.  This year the Top 28 is in Alexandria....hmmm, I remember that place??? Oh yeah, that's where my teammates and I played way back in the day and won the 1996 state championship.  Fun times.  Now it's time for these girls to make some memories!
The pep rally today was great and these girls are ready to play!

Road trip! I had promised Sarah that if the girls made it to the Top 28, we'd make a road trip.  She was pretty bummed when I didn't let her go to the road playoff games with me, but this made up for it!  Lady Jackets v Lady Wildcats. YES! Playing Walker High in the semifinals!

What a game!! Lady Jackets WIN!!! Going to the ship!!

Super happy car ride home!!

School Days

Sarah had a field trip to the Magnolia Mound Plantation and she absolutely loved it! Said it was the most she's ever learned on a field trip!

Kyla, Lily, Sarah, Lydia, Hope and Dallas.

Third grade class pets! Can't believe Sarah let these things on her!!!

My 4th hour convinced me we needed king cake...oh...ok, twist my arm. ;)

Krewe of Oriion

After the DS parade, we headed downtown for our only night parade...the Krewe of Orion.  We love our little parking spot with the backdrop of the state capitol and the traffic to and from our spot is almost non existent, so we love this parade.  We missed it last year due to rain and this year, there was a threat of rain, but we lucked out and only had a few drizzles.
A little PB&J for my non eater of any kind of chicken nuggets.

I just LOVE this picture!!

Mr. Chad rolling with the Krewe and gifting us with some awesome throws.

Denham Springs Mardi Gras

Y'all...I love Mardi Gras.  No, like really.  Like it's my favorite right after Christmas...like so right a after Christmas that it is almost tied with Christmas.  I. Love. Mardi. Gras.  And this dang Louisiana rain keeps trying to rain on my parades!
This afternoon, we headed out to the DS parade...but not before we had to sit in the car and wait on the downpour to pass.  All was good though, we had a great time with friends and of course caught some beads!

Valentine's Day Crawfish boil

Uncle Jeff invited us over for a crawfish boil for Valentine's Day.  We had a great time and the crawfish were delicious!!

Hmmm...which one???

Found one! I'll just stroll on over here with my baby and my crawfish in my dress and "fancy" shoes.  :)

Yard games, friends, family and crawfish.  Makes for a pretty perfect day!

Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's!  Shout out to Grammy for the oh so cute shirts again this year!

Insectarium

Today was a first for all of us!  For Christmas, Uncle Mike and Grandma got us family passes for to the Audubon Institute parks.  So today we headed to the Insectarium!! It was so much fun...and new to all of us!

Soooo...I ate a cricket king cake! That's right, momma was the brave one and did the taste test challenge and it was...interesting!  It was a really fun time and the insectarium recorded the experience like I was on a TV show.  I still never found where they posted that video.  But anyway...lots of fun and my girls were totally grossed out by my "snack".

So much fun! We will definitely be going back.  I'm cracking up at the Insectarium pics...not sure why they posted sideways and upside down.  On the way home, we stopped and Middendrof's for lunch and it was delicious as always.
