Easter 2011

What a difference a year makes! Last year we spent Easter Sunday like this.... And this year...I think Sarah could really get use to waking up to presents just for her every morning!

Very interested in the grass! After we played with all of Sarah's stuff from the Easter Bunny, we all got dressed and headed to church! Still cannot get this kid to smile for the camera!! "Who me?You want me to do what?!?!"After church, Mom and Jeff came over for lunch. Mom made her famous (well in our family;) bunny cake that she use to make for us when we were kids!

Miss you Uncle Mike!!

First Trip to the Zoo!!

We recently joined The Friends of the Baton Rouge Zoo and took our first trip this weekend...trying to beat the hot weather- it was only 88 by the time we left!! I haven't been to the Baton Rouge Zoo since I was a kid. Many things had stayed the same, but they have also made many new additions. Andy, who grew up going to the San Diego Zoo, was pleasantly surprised at our little zoo!

Sarah getting her first glimpse of the state bird...the pelican!Strolling around the "Birds of the Wild" exhibit.
The giraffes turned out to be the hit of the day....this is our first pass by the giraffes. They were so beautiful!!And this was our second pass by the giraffes!!! Some kids were feeding them crepe myrtle leaves (which I am pretty sure aren't native to Africa) and the giraffes were right up at the fence!! Wasn't too long before zoo patrol was there to stop the kids from feeding them, but it was a real treat to have them that close! The zoo has a new (well new to me) tiger exhibit called "Realm of the Tiger" that I was super excited about...Sarah, not impressed. The Kids Zoo...Sarah enjoying the bunnies. You are allowed to pet the animals in this part of the zoo! We just watched them this time.Sarah with her new giraffe to commemorate her first trip to the zoo! I think she really did enjoy herself! Lots of pointing at different things and she loved to see all of the kids running around! Even with the unseasonal heat, it was a beautiful day....a nice breeze and lots of shade helped. Looking forward to many more trips...who doesn't love a zoo?!?!
