LSU Fun Day!

It's almost that time!! Football season!!!! We of course are excited!!  This morning we decided we needed to ride out to LSU to take a look at our potential tailgating spot.  You see, they have eliminated our old parking spot due to construction.  We were able to get in our same lot, but not exactly the same location.  We honestly didn't know where we were going to be come game day.  So today we decided to check it out.  After a quick look at the new parking arrangements, we headed to see the best mascot in all of the land Mike the Tiger!

Love that big smile!

I couldn't get Leah's eyes off of Mike to get a picture of her.  This was the best I could get.  She kept "ROOOOAAARRR-ing".
When we arrived at Mike's habitat, we noticed there were more people than usual hanging around that area.  Come to find out, The Golden Band from Tigerland was having a game day dress reshersal that was open to the public! (I'll need to watch for this next year!!)  One of my former students is marching this year in the band and the Drum Major is also a DSHS grad and former member of NHS, which I am a club sponsor.  So lots of fun added fun watching the band this year!
There's Kelly!  2nd row,  1st person on left.
Sarah LOVED watching the band march!! At this point, she's only seen the DSHS band march and various other in parades and what not.  Leah was loving the beat of the drum too!  After the band passed, Andy says, "Want to see if we can get in the stadium?"  Ummm sure!  "Just act casual" he says.  hahaha!  Sarah was very impressed with the stadium!! We showed her were our seats were located for games.  "This is like ten times bigger than Yellow Jacket Stadium!"  Ha! Yeah, just a little bigger.
First family pic in Tiger Stadium!! :)

First Day of Kinder....Do-Over!

We are going to try this again.  Kindergarten that is.  Sarah is feeling much better today.  Still anxious and nervous, but better.  Today Emma will be riding with us.  Sweet, sweet Emma!! In my all out breakdown yesterday, I went to the only place I knew for motherly help, my work sister or as the kids say "sister from another mister", Missy.  She's been there done that with her two girls.  She's always a calming voice to talk things through with.  I don't say it as I should, but THANK YOU MISSY!!! For being that friend for me!

Missy suggested yesterday that maybe Emma could ride with us to school.  This would allow Sarah a buddy at drop off.  And as a fifth grader, Emma knew the school well and would be able to make sure that Sarah made it to class in the morning.  I was ecstatic!!  Best idea ever!!  And Sarah LOVED the idea.

First time sitting in carpool together.  It was so cute.  Emma talked and talked.  Sarah had no time to think and get nervous.  It worked out beautifully!

Sarah rides the bus to my school.  I met her at the bus for her first drop off.  And sweet Emma was there too!  Emma is going to be walking Sarah to my classroom everyday from now on. :)

A little Barbie on momma's SmartBoard while momma gets work done.
Ahhhh...we made it!  Kindergarten re-do day was a success.  She said she had a great day! Can't thank the Carroll's enough for their help and wisdom through experience.  And of course all of the prayers!  Kindergarten here we come!

First Day of Kindergarten!!!

Well, it happened.  The first day of school for Sarah.  And it was anything short of non-eventful! The morning started at 5am, when she came into my room and told me that her tummy hurt.  I tried to comfort her with telling her that I was sure her stomach was just excited and she'd be fine.  That didn't work...at all.

Long story short:  She threw up three times before we ever made it to school!  We left our baby girl at Kindergarten crying.  I emailed Mrs. Frizell and told her Sarah hadn't had anything to eat.  She offered Sarah something to eat.  Sarah threw that up!  Grandma had to go pick Sarah up from school.  First day of kindergarten and she had to leave before ten a.m. :(  Grandma tried to feed her some lunch and she threw that up when Andy got home.

I was heartbroken!! This was not the first day of school I had imagined for my baby girl!!!! I cried....a lot!!  I went home at lunch to see her.  I wanted to know if she was really sick or if she had made herself sick from worry.  But all I did when I got there was cry some more when I got to my momma.

By the evening, Sarah was able to eat a little something and keep it down.  Andy swears that she had a stomach bug.  I swear that she had made herself sick from worry.  Who knows!?!  Maybe it was the perfect storm for her little stomach.

Poor baby's forced 1st day of school pose.

Showing of her book sack and trying to give her best smile.

All smiles in Mrs. Frizell's classroom.

Sarah and Mrs. Frizell.

Sarah and Olivia! (Friend from Pre-school :)
To say that I will be praying for my sweet girl in the days to come is an understatement!!  Seriously hardest mommy day to date....I know, this is just the beginning!

Leah and Fritz!

No denying Leah is Fritz's biggest fan!  Andy and I still get amused at how well he has done with our girls. It wasn't too long before Sarah was born, that he was not a fan of kids.  But he sure does loves his girls! Getting a little older has probably helped him a lot too!

Andy took Sarah to Northside today to meet her teacher and to complete her Kindergarten screening process.  She did great!! We are all very excited about the school year.  It was nice that Sarah got to see a familiar face too.  She knows mommy and Mrs. Frizell go waaaaaay back! ;) Love both of these beauties!

NOLA Family Fun...Day 2

We are headed to the Audubon Zoo today....and the Cool Zoo!
Not sure why we planned on ever leaving the room...these two could just play in the curtains all day and be super happy!

Leah was getting used to the hotel life.

Yippee!! The Zoo!!

She would've climbed right in if we'd let her!

Ready for a fun day!!

Our guide.

Hey! Wait for momma!!
We purchased an extra pass today at the zoo that allowed for unlimited carousel rides, a train ride and then entrance into the Cool Zoo splash pad.  We never did make it to the train.  We had a nice afternoon shower that had us stop for lunch a little longer than planned, so we skipped the train this time.  No one seemed to mind.
Carousel!

Girls are ready to go!
On to the Cool Zoo!  This was a nice treat to cool off from a very hot and humid August day in New Orleans!!  Sarah loved the lazy river.  Leah may have been still a little too young for it, but she had a great time.  Andy and Sarah spent a lot of time in the lazy river and Leah and I headed to the splash pad part of the Cool Zoo for most of our time.  They later joined us.
No raft needed....just gonna walk/float their way around.

Cool Zoo family pic!! Fun times for sure!!
It was nice to get away...even if it was for just a couple of days.   Now time to get ready for the start of school! :(

NOLA Family Fun..Day 1

Vacation for us this year has been a little unusual.  Remember January...Disney World?  Great trip! However, that left Andy with this week being only week available for vacation.  School starts for me on Wednesday!!!  So we opted for a quick trip with the girls to NOLA.  Sarah has always been a fan of the city.  And we hope to show Leah how much we love the city too!
Checking out the view of the city.  We stayed at the Marriott on Canal for this trip.  "Sarah, what are you doing with your leg?"  "Oh, I'm keeping Leah from falling!"
The Young's left our house this morning and of course, last night we all stayed up a little later than we should, which left our afternoon a little, wellll let's just say tired!  Both of our girls were wore out from the fun of the weekend.  (Late nights, no naps, etc)  Andy and I had really planned for us to do some things around Jackson Square. The girls on the other hand, needed some rest.  So we headed back to the hotel and did just that.   And added in some pool time...and everyone seemed to be in a much better mood in the evening.   We all cleaned up and headed to Palace Cafe' for dinner.
This girl LOVES her daddy!!

This girl REFUSES to take a decent picture! But I love her still! ;)

This sweetie will gladly take a picture with mommy.

Ahhh ....the introduction to Brennan Family restaurant French bread! Yummmmy!!

Sarah was super excited to get her Banana Fosters made at the table!!

It was a challenge to get her to share with the rest of us. HA!
After dinner we headed to do the walking around we had planned for earlier in the day.  Sarah wanted to see street performers and hear live music!!  We wanted to get out and about and head back before dark. :)
Love doing life with this man!

Happy! Happy! Happy!
