Sycamore Tree Troubles

My poor sycamore tree.  I am not sure how old this tree was...my guess is 30-40 years old seeing as how this house was built in the 80s. Her roots were strong and large.  Long story short, our neighbors decided they didn't like the roots on their side of the fence and decided to poison the tree.  We knew something was up when the tree started to lose leaves in August. After a "discussion" with the neighbors, they "offered" to cut the tree down. We will miss this beauty and her shade.

Marco - Laura

The internet is pretty good at providing a good laugh when you need one.  Louisiana seems to forever be in the "Cone of Uncertainty". This week we have two storms coming at us at once. We ended up getting though both storms with no issues...even made it to the pool one day. However, our poor neighbors in Lake Charles were hit very hard by Laura and will take years to recover.

Heidi does SnapChat

We sure do love this sweet dog. And she is pretty patience with us and all of our crazy ways. Luckily with SnapChat filters, she doesn't even know what we are doing to her. haha.

Back to School!!!

School during a pandemic looks a little different, but we are glad to be back in the classroom.  We will be doing what is called "Hybrid" school.  The district has split the kids in half and only half of the kids go to in person school a day, while the other half are suppose to be doing the same work online at home. It's not the best, but it's better than full virtual school like we did last spring which was a nightmare.
Students whose parents work in the school system get to go to school all five days of the week.  Which is great because teachers aren't having to look for child care for their students while try to take care of their students needs as well.
We will be wiping desks down in between classes, seating will be spaced out and we will be wearing masks to school. I know the students will be great...they are resilient and they adjust well.  The adults...not so much. But we will make it through this. We are all a little nervous about these changes, but know this is what will be necessary for us to be in school...which I believe is the best place for students and teachers to be!
