Old School

The DSHS Lady Jackets are headed back to the state tournament and Coach Rudy Smith as a few of us ole timers to stop by and speak to the girls on what it means to represent your school and hometown in the state championship game. My teammates, Jamie Chustz Felder and Becca McKeithen joined me in the locker room. It was a great time retelling old stories. Good luck, ladies!

 

Motion Weekend

This was a first for me. Motion Weekend is a weekend dedicated to the Youth that allows them worship time and fellowship with their peers. Building their relationship with Christ and each other. Michelle asked if I would help her as a host home for the 8th grade girls and I was happy to help! There were 20 girls staying at Michelle's house! And we managed showers and sleeping all very well! We had a great weekend and I loved seeing all of these girls grow in their walk. 

Just waiting on their shower time. 

No phones at bed time. They actually went to sleep.

Service project at Ms. Debby's. Helping her clean up her yard. 

Ms. Debby makes jewelry and sells it at the farmers market. She was so sweet to offer the girls a piece of it as a thank you for their help. 

 

Due to their grandmother's friendships and then their mother's friendships, these girls have know each other since they were born. 

Whew! Worn out. It was a great weekend. 

Lady Jacket Basketball Playoffs

Playoff season is the best season! This Lady Jacket team is pretty amazing. They had a bye the first round, beat Slidell the second round and tonight take on Ruston for a trip to the State semi-finals in Hammond.

New Roads in the Neighborhood

Well. This was a first for all of us. Seeing new roads be laid down in our neighborhood. It was a super catastrophic mess!!! These pictures won't even begin to do a justice to what are going through while these streets are being worked on. 

The contractor decided to tear up all of the main road (that we live on) that gets people in and out of our neighborhood all at one time. Didn't leave a travel lane. Just tore the whole thing up! Trash trucks, busses - which stopped even coming in the neighborhood, cars and all were getting stuck daily. 

The method of getting out was to just keep hitting the gas and don't stop! Haha! It made for quite the adventure in and out of the neighborhood. Pretty sure I didn't breathe until I was in my driveway or out of the hood, depending on which way we were going.
