Thanksgiving Day

With the first time ever for LSU/OU in the regular season in Tiger Stadium as part of the SEC addition of OU and Texas, we were sure to have Thanksgiving at our house and we can't wait for the big game Saturday. It was fun having everyone at the house and prepping all of the food. I do wish I was a better cook though. But I keep trying lol
Fridge is packed. I started a little early so all I had to do the day of was cook all of the sides. Andy was in charge of the turkey...which he always does such a great job!

Cutest turkey at our table!

Dumestre/Jacobsens

Jacobsens

My crew. This was right before Leah passes out on us. She had been sick with walking pneumonia a few days earlier and wasn't back too full speed. She got a little fussy with me during pictures talking about being hot and I just kept saying, one more Leah you can do it and then in a quick second she looked at me and looked pretty bad and then went out. We got her back in the house elevated her feet and got her some juice and worked to cool her off. It was scary there for a minute. She ended up eating a little food and we kept pushing the fluids and she recovered.

Trying to convince Amelia to take a picture with Santa.

LSU v Vandy

I love this age. The girls wanted to bring a friend to the game so we planned ahead at the start of the season and purchased two of Uncle Jeff's tickets so we could use all six and the girls could each bring a friend. Leah brought Remi with her and Sarah brought Kate. Funny story, Kate actually told Sarah very early on that if we had an extra ticket, she would love to come with us to a game. The day was full of giggles, girl talk and ooohhh and ahhhhs. We loved it! And Tigers Win!

Leah and Remi found some other friends as we waited for the LSU band to march down the hill.

We went to the PMAC to watch the pregame performance from the band.

DSHS Teacher Spirit Week

Teachers like to have fun too! This week was and underground spirit week for the teachers. It was a viral trend going around...we dress up in different themes and see if the kids even notice. It took them a few days to figure it out, but they eventually did. It was super fun week to set us up for the Thanksgiving break.

Leah's 5th Grade Field Trip - Louisiana Renaissance Festival

Leah's fifth grade field trip was a first for me. I had never been to the Renaissance Festival! Sarah went with her 5th grade class, but that was just out of CoVid and parents weren't allowed on field trips. I love going on these field trips with my girls and I was so glad that it worked out for me to attend. Leah and I had a great time and even met the Queen! ;)  It was a completely new experience for both of us and we had a great day.

So fun running into your friends at your field trip!

The Amazing Shake

Leah had an amazing opportunity to participate in the first ever "Amazing Shake" presented by the LP SADD organization. This event was modeled after program used at the Ron Clarke Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. Leah was selected by her principal at her school along with her classmate, Lincoln. The students were all 5th graders. She spent the day at another local school that was the host, Seventh Ward Elementary.
From the LP SADD Facebook Page: Competitors practiced interview and job skills, perfected their handshakes, grew in self-confidence, and, most importantly, stepped outside of their comfort zones. They even had the opportunity to interact with local political and community leaders—and they truly gave it their all!
It was truly a great experience for my girl and we are so, so proud of her.
