| Leah thinks that since Sarah bends down to take picture with her, that she has to bend down too. |

| Sarah actually requested this picture. "Mommy, take my picture in front of the school, so I can always remember where I went to school." And as we walked away..."bye Jesus." |
We have absolutely loved the time that Sarah as spent as DSCA!! All of the teachers she has had since she was four months old have loved her, cared for her and truly been a wonderful influence on her. Which with all of that said, is why this transition is so hard for my sweet Sarah May. Change is not easy for her...not in the lease bit. And the fear of the unknown that kindergarten brings has this sweet child wound up tighter than a cuckoo clock! Last night before bed, she broke out in what I like to call the "ugly cry" (remember Oprah calling it that way back when). Sarah was so upset about leaving her school, and her friends. Her exact words..."I'm scared, nervous and sad" "Why do I have to leave my school, they all know me there and love me there." Broke my heart!!
I did my best to let her know that all of those feelings were okay....and I tried console her, but sometimes you just need to be held by your momma. So that's what I did. And we both cried...the ugly cry.
I wish I could get her to understand that it would all be ok. I wish I could better understand how nervous and scared and sad she is. I honestly don't remember a single transition to a new school or a new school year. Either they were that bad that I blocked them out, or they were so uneventful they didn't even leave a mark on my memory. Either way, Andy and I struggle to make our sweet, smart, beautiful child have enough confidence to go bravely into new situations. Today, we will hug on our Sarah May a little tighter and hope and pray that that will ease her emotions.
