Red Ribbon Week: Character Day

Last Pep Rally of the 2015 Football season/senior day.

Halloween...a day early.

Man....the rain just keeps coming this fall!! Due to the threat of severe weather tomorrow, Halloween Night, Trick or Treating was moved up a day by the "officials".

Again, this year, mom invited us all back to her house for dinner and then trick or treating around her neighborhood.  Only one problem....mom wasn't able to make it.  Earlier in the week she had traveled to Oklahoma to see Uncle Eddie.  She was suppose to fly home tonight.  She ended up missing her flight home due to bad weather and bad luck!  So as any good kids do, we partied on without her in her house!

Our Halloween Crew!

Leah is really getting the hang of this eating candy thing.

Sweet friends!

Strollin' down the street.

It took her a few houses and a little "candy courage" but Leah started to heading to the front door to Trick or Treat like a pro.

The boys were in charge of passing out the candy at mom's house.

There she goes!!

Leah's theme for this year's Halloween.

She loves him even when he's dressed like a hot dog. :)

Cheese!!! Photo Credit...LEAH! Her new thing now is to take my phone and take pictures of everyone and everything!! She even commands that you say "Cheese"

Another night of Halloween success.

We missed you Grandma!! But thanks for letting us carry on with the party!

Trunk or Treat

It has been a soggy weekend here for sure!! And due to all of that rain, the church had to move Trunk or Treat indoors.  It worked out great! And we ended up with a great crowd of over 160 kids!! This year, I once again offered to help my mom's Sunday School class with the decorations.  Sarah and I had a great time coming up with ideas for decorating.

"Candy?? Did they just give me candy? Where is it?"

LSU vs Western Kentucky - Sarah's First LSU Game!!

Confession time....I've lied to my child.  I know none of you have ever done such a thing, but I did.  I admit it. And let's face it, I won't be in the running for the "mom of the year" award anytime soon, so what's the harm.  What's the lie?  Welllllllll.....Andy and I have always enjoyed our Saturdays at LSU in the fall.  I knew I never wanted to bring Sarah to a game while she was in diapers and I really wanted her to have an understanding of not touching things in a bathroom before she came to a game with us.  I wanted the experience to be something she remembered.  And I wanted to be FUN for ALL of us!  So obviously the time just hasn't been right.

And somehow, over the last five years, what was once "oh you can't go until you get older" as an excuse to why Sarah couldn't join us, became "You can't go until you are ten. "  Sweet baby girl too this to be an LSU rule.  We let her go with that.  This year, she started to question a few things when she would see pics of other kids, that she knew were NOT ten, but still at LSU games.  I always just responded as any good parent would and told her that "their parents must not follow the rules" and put the blame somewhere else.

Andy and I had been throwing the idea back and forth all season as to if we wanted to take her to the homecoming game.  We knew if would be cooler temps as well as a less fanatic more kid friendly environment than an SEC game.  So we agreed that this would be her first game!  We also agreed to not do any tailgating, get out there a little later and then hopefully make it to the end of the game.

At first Sarah was concerned that she wasn't ten yet, and was still going to the game.  We kindly told her that we figured it would be ok if she maybe just went to one game a year until she was ten.  (I mean really....what are we doing here?? HA) All week long Sarah counted down the days until she was going to see the Tigers play.  She was super pumped!  And Andy and I were getting excited too!!

Finally....GAMEDAY!!

Our little Tiger Fan!

Waiting on the band.
Oh....did I mention that this weekend the weather was expected to drop inches upon inches of rain??? Andy and I both agreed that at this point, we couldn't back out taking her to the game.  This was it.  We'd all just have to deal with some rain.   And Sarah's a kid.  Kids love the rain.  We made sure to pack our ponchos and just went with it.   It wasn't going to rain on our parade! ;)
We hung out for a bit under the PMac ramps while we waited for some pretty heavy rain to pass.  One happy girl!!

We got to the stadium a little early.  Mostly so we could get out of the rain.  But when Sarah heard the band march in to the stadium she wanted to go watch!  Sarah and I sat in the pouring rain watching the team warm up and listening to the band.

M&M break in the concourse.  We had to get out of the rain....at least for a little while.

:)

Sarah May's First LSU Football Game!!

Mommy and Sarah and goofball. ;)

Let's try again.

Headed home.  We made to halftime before she asked if we could go home.  It was a very exciting day and she was tired!
Despite the rain, I think Sarah truly enjoyed her first game in Tiger Stadium.  She did ask us though "Next year, can I go to game that is not raining?"
