We have been coaching Leah for a few days now about taking a picture with the Easter Bunny. We showed her the picture from last year. She wasn't impressed. We showed her pictures of other friends happy kids with the Easter Bunny. Her response "NO BUNNY!" Well then. So we proceeded to see the bunny anyway!
When finally reached the front of the line for the bunny, we had convinced Leah that she could sit with Sarah and NOT next to the bunny. She seemed ok with that. It was our turn. As we approached the bunny, Leah looked at the bunny and very firmly said "NO BUNNY! I SIT WID SARWAH!"
I gently tapped Mr. Bunny and explained to him that I was going to need him to scooch over just a bit, because my very certain two year old wanted nothing to do with him even though her picture crazed mother insisted on having a picture of her two sweet girls with the Easter Bunny. The bunny titled his head, then nodded, then scooched over enough that both of my girls were able to sit on the same side of the bench.
Leah sat with her big sister - who she knows will always be her second mother looking out for her in all situations and Sarah was able to sit next to the Easter Bunny all the while protecting her baby sister from that mean ole furry rabbit.
Andy and I beamed with joy as the picture captured the love that our kids share for each other. And the Easter Bunny....well, he was still wondering what role he played in all of this. Hoppy Easter!
